Vancouver, B.C. - Get to know one of our newer team captains of Metro League, Tyson Perry of Shamgodz.
Q1: What year did you first join The Vancouver Metro Basketball League™ and how many seasons have you been a part of to date?
A1: First season was in the Fall of 2018. We just wrapped up our second season with the squad in January 2020.
Q2: Being a team captain, how did you put your team together?
A2: Originally my friend and I came out for an open run hoping to join a team. We picked up a few guys at the run and managed to get a few of our friends to fill out a free agent team in the first year. We had such a great time and had awesome chemistry, so most of the squad came back to play for another season.
Q3: What’s your relationship with teammates? How long have you known them / how did you meet them?
A3: Only one of our teammates is from BC - the rest are from other parts of the country. We met through work, university or friends of friends. It's been a great opportunity to meet some other ballers who are all around great guys.
Q4: How does The Vancouver Metro Basketball League™ and the game of basketball bring you and your team together?
A4: The league is extremely organized. It creates a lot of excitement because of the added competitiveness that can be difficult to replicate in a pick up game.
Q5: Of all the leagues in the city and in the lower mainland, why choose The Vancouver Metro Basketball League™ to bring your team together?
A5: Teams are motivated to win this league. Every night you have to bring your 'A' game if you expect to win, and that makes the league second to none.
Tyler, thank you so much for taking the time! Amazing job to you and your team last Fall. It was awesome seeing you guys in the Championship game, and look forward to seeing you guys back on the court!
