Uniforms

All players MUST wear a uniquely numbered matching team uniforms (jersey with matching Team Shorts or BLACK shorts only for Metro League Jerseys).

Players MUST keep their numbers consistent throughout the season. It is mandatory and a requirement that players wear a uniform to every game! Due to the fact that we are keeping statistics, you will be expected to keep your uniform (jersey with #) consistent throughout the season. There is no excuse for not having a uniform, however, with the understanding that mistakes happen, the league has adopted the 3 strike rule. There will be a 2 game minimum grace, collectively as a team for this infraction to be tolerated by the league officials. The infractions will be marked down and kept on file and on the third infraction (if a team has a player or players without a uniform (team jersey* with matching shorts) they will NOT be permitted to play.

Default Rule:

All teams shall play FIBA Men’s Basketball Rules with these specific modifications:

Games will be played in 23-minute running time halves with the final 2 minutes of second half being stop time. If the games score is not within a 15 point spread, the remainder of the game will be played out in running time. However, at anytime in the remaining 2 minutes, if the score comes within the 15 point spread it will become stop time. At anytime within the final 2 minutes, if the score is beyond a 15 point spread it will switch over to running time.

Teams must have 5 players to start the game. Games must start at the top of the hour, if a team only has 4 players, the game will be started and the first 23 minutes shall proceed 5 versus 4. If at the end of the first 23 minutes the team with 4 players does not have a fifth player dressed and ready to play before the start of the 2nd half. The team with 5 players automatically wins by default (score of 50-0).

Overtime games will be set for 3 minutes. Double and Triple overtime games will be set for 2 minutes.

All teams will be awarded two full time outs (60 seconds) per half, with an additional full time out for each over-time period necessary. Unused time-outs do not carry over from the first half to the second half, nor can they be used in overtime.

Time-outs per can be called ball in hand.

Technical fouls will result in the opposite team receiving 2 free throws and possession of the ball at half court.

When a forfeit occurs, the players who have shown up can scrimmage, however, the referees will not participate.

Most important RULE is Respect Above All Else – THERE IS ZERO TOLERANCE FOR CONFRONTATION. PROFANITY gets 1 warning, the second warning is suspension for 1 game. 3rd warning is suspension for the season. We have been a professional and respectful league for years and we pride ourselves on being competitive and having fun doing it.

Referees calls are deemed Final.

Playoffs:

ONLY 8 teams advance to the Metro League Playoffs. Rankings of team will be determined by Win/loss records. In case of a tie, teams will be ranked according to ‘Points For and Points Against’ ratio. If teams are still tied, head-to-head matches will break the tie, followed by Defaults if necessary.

Teams will play single elimination: 3 Rounds of Playoffs: Elite Eight, Final Four, Championship.

PLAYOFF ROSTERS CAN ONLY CONSIST OF PLAYERS WHO HAVE PARTICIPATED IN A MINIMUM OF 5 REGULAR SEASON GAMES.
